The Process

Sometimes the most difficult task is in keeping it simple!

1. First we have to find out what's in your box!

We meet with you to find out what you want to do, what you want to achieve, what has made your business successful up to now and how you want your business promoted.

Your likes, your dislikes. After all you can have the most sophisticated and well designed website and yet it might not fit with your overall mission statement or appeal to your customer demographics.

You may have a well defined supply of material available, and you might be starting from scratch. We've helped many who are just starting out on the web put together original material, based on their business model.

...often we have to find out if the 'domain name' (.com etc. ) you want is available and then act fast to secure it for you.

How do you want to promote your web site, generate traffic and coordinate all your marketing efforts?

First we like to meet with you, either in person at your place of business or virtually over the internet and by phone when distance is too great.  We get a feeling for what you want.

Together we go through the Discovery, find out the scope of the project, go through the 'quote' and acceptance phase.

...........and now the perfect Astor Studio team is assembled to begin working on your project!

The team puts together the information gathered in Discovery.  As well as more information through interviews, printed material etc. to prepare the Assets File about your business. This can be a several step process depending on the business involved.

Many times a new logo design, or transferal of logo design is worked on so that it can be used in the website by our graphics artist.   Pictures are taken on site of people places and products.

Written material and copy appropriate to the new web site is put together. A Graphic Design concept for the site, colors and feeling to be presented are decided upon.

How often is the site to be changed, updated or have new announcements. By giving readers new information all of the time, you increase the desire for people to return to your site often to see what new information you have to offer.

All the assets for a web site are assembled before designing begins.

Next a preliminary website is put together. Many times a 'Place Holder' site is established online so that customers can access you through your new web site's email etc.,  get some advance news about your upcoming site. the rest of the site is put together but it's not 'live' or viewable except to the designers who are working on your site.

At several stages during the process it is made available for you to have a look at so that you can give appropriate feedback at each stage.

Many hours can go into the design aspects and we like to save you money by having things approved along the way rather than just going ahead and finishing everything at once only to find out you might have different preferences that take many more hours to implement.

Sometimes changes are things that you all of a sudden find you want to add after seeing the preliminary site. There is always fine tuning, more information etc. This stage gives you the opportunity to make sure everything is the way you want it before it goes live.

4. Your Website Goes Live....Then What?

Many times there are still minor additions or changes to be made once the site goes live, more fine tuning or adjustments. Then there is the ongoing maintenance, timely updates, new releases etc.

Submission to search engines, Traffic Generation ( making your site attractive to search engines is part of the design features we offer) SEO is important so that your site will receive the attention you want.

What happens next depends on your type of business. Some sites are pretty much like an expanded brochure. Others require constant changes and updates. We can do these for you or you can do many updates yourself.

We recommend re-doing a website every so often as constant changes and updates can change the overall appearance of the initial design. Sometimes you just need a fresh new look.

About us...

Breck & Trina, Astor Studio's husband and wife team, began 'the new media side' of Astor Studio as an addition to an already established business in the late '90's.

Breck spent many years at the Bata media department, coordinating with teams of artists, photographs and printers to produce newsletters and other media products for their international operations. He realized that the internet would be the next frontier and a necessary leap for most small businesses if they were to continue in the new generation. He pivoted his own creative design and business and project management skills into the website design field and has maintained websites for an ever growing group of companies who rely on his help and ongoing support.

Trina is an 'idea person' and has a multi-faceted background as a photographer, artist and author, with experience in communications, marketing and sales. She has followed Breck's penchant for everything digital and pivoted traditional skills along the way. They now have 'his and 'hers' offices next to each other and collaborate on many aspects of design and implementation of projects.

At Astor Studio, 'The Team' is a technological collaboration of 'Creatives'
